Promoting Small Group Activities at Arvind Limited

10th – 12th August, 2017

A three day SGA for Arvind Limited, Santej was organized during 10th to 12th August, 2017.   The SGA for Arvind Limited, Santej was designed to ensure that employees from all levels of production participated and went through a series of guided/ facilitated process that included self-assessment, listing of options, and assessment of options on their relative economics and impact and prioritization of actions most suited to meet the energy efficiency requirement of their specific area of plant operation. These sessions were carefully facilitates so that the employees work as a team in coordinated fashion and there is a healthy competition within and across groups in different operational areas. IIn total, 227 kW energy saving target was planned by these 4 Groups.Click here to know more


Two Days’ Plant Level Training and Capacity Building Program at Arvind Limited

8th – 9th August, 2017

KEP is providing value added services for training and capacity building of the industries under the SPARC model (Service Package for Advancing Resource Conservation). The whole idea behind organizing such training programs is that, with the enhanced target under the PAT scheme in each cycle the industry will need much more customized and hand holding support to identify their plant specific opportunities for energy efficiency. The two days training and capacity building workshop was organized at Arvind Limited, on 8h – 9th August, 2017 which was attended by 24 officials working in various process departments. The welcome address was presented by Shri Harvinder Rathee, Engineering Head, Arvind Limited. In his address, he highlighted the contribution made by KEP in promoting energy efficiency in Indian Industry and hoped that under KEP-SPARC membership, Arvind Limited will also be greatly benefitted through the proceedings of Capacity building program and 3 days Small group activity. Plant has already reaped in benefits from short and no cost measures and to achieve further saving potential, the knowledge gained through KEP workshops will be really helpful. 5 Day Preparatory Training Course for the 18th National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors

17th July to 21st July, 2017

Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) organized a “5 Day Preparatory Training Course for the 18th National Certification Examination for Energy Managers and Energy Auditors” from 17th July to 21st July, 2017 at Marigold, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. This preparatory training program focussed on strengthening the capacity of prospective energy professionals to write the Energy Auditor and Energy Manager Certification Examination and supporting industry in all their effort towards enhancing energy productivity. Western Region Workshop on “Capacity Building of Officers  from Petroleum Refinery Sector on Efficient Use of Energy”

7th July, 2017

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP), with the cooperation of IOCL Vadodara Refinery, organized the Western Region Workshop on “Capacity Building of Officers from Petroleum Refinery Sector on Efficient Use of Energy” on 7th July 2017 (Friday) at Auditorium IOCL, Vadodara Refinery, Vadodara, Gujarat.This workshop served as a platform for sharing experiences, where new DCs from PAT Refinery Sector will share best practices implemented to enhance the energy efficiency index in electrical and thermal utility systems, in-house operations leading to multiple benefits, and new and innovative technologies for the sector. This workshop also facilitated interactions on the 2nd Cycle of PAT Scheme with BEE. Click here to know more

15th to 17th June, 2017

A three day SGA for My Home Industries Limited, Telangana was organized during 15th to 17th June, 2017.   The SGA for My Home Industries Limited, Telangana was designed to ensure that employees from all levels of production participated and went through a series of guided/ facilitated process that included self-assessment, listing of options, and assessment of options on their relative economics and impact and prioritization of actions most suited to meet the energy efficiency requirement of their specific area of plant operation.These sessions were carefully facilitates so that the employees work as a team in coordinated fashion and there is a healthy competition within and across groups in different operational areas. In total 365 kW and 7 kcal/kg clinker energy saving target was planned by 9 Groups. Click here to know more

Two Days’ Plant Level Training and Capacity Building Program at My Home Industries Limited

13th – 14th June, 2017

KEP is providing value added services for training and capacity building of the industries under the SPARC model (Service Package for Advancing Resource Conservation). The whole idea behind organizing such training programs is that, with the enhanced target under the PAT scheme in each cycle the industry will need much more customized and hand holding support to identify their plant specific opportunities for energy efficiency. The two days training and capacity building workshop was organized at My Home Industries Limited, Mellacheruvu Plant on 13th – 14th June, 2017 which was attended by 26 officials working in mechanical, electrical, instrument, mining, QA and process departments. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri MM Patil, President (Works), My Home Industries Limited. Shri Patil mentioned improvement in energy intensity will bring down the specific input energy cost and ultimately trigger higher profit in company’s balance sheet. Shri Patil mentioned that although management has employed energy efficient technologies and Waste Heat Recovery Project, but the efforts should continue in achieving the benefits from small to medium term measures through involvement of employees.. A three day SGA for JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Durg was organized during 8th to 10th June, 2017.   The SGA for JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Durg was designed to ensure that employees from all levels of production participated and went through a series of guided/ facilitated process that included self-assessment, listing of options, and assessment of options on their relative economics and impact and prioritization of actions most suited to meet the energy efficiency requirement of their specific area of plant operation. These sessions were carefully facilitates so that the employees work as a team in coordinated fashion and there is a healthy competition within and across groups in different operational areas. In total 310 kW power saving target has been planned by 5 Groups. Click here to know more

6th – 7th June, 2017

KEP is providing value added services for training and capacity building of the industries under the SPARC model (Service Package for Advancing Resource Conservation). The whole idea behind organizing such training programs is that, with the enhanced target under the PAT scheme in each cycle the industry will need much more customized and hand holding support to identify their plant specific opportunities for energy efficiency. The two days training and capacity building workshop was organized at JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Durg plant on 6th and 7th June, 2017 which was attended by 22 officials working in mechanical, electrical, instrument and process departments. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Mukul Srivastava, Vice president (Engineering), JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Durg. In his inaugural address, Shri Srivastava mentioned that the participants of this capacity building program are young engineers and are willing to learn new methods and techniques to improve plant energy performance. He thanked the Corporate office in supporting this initiative and felt that energy saving opportunities will be identified by the participants with the support and inputs provided by the faculty from Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP). A three day SGA for JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Sirohi was organized during 31st May to 2nd June, 2017.   The SGA for JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Sirohi was designed to ensure that employees from all levels of production participated and went through a series of guided/ facilitated process that included self-assessment, listing of options, and assessment of options on their relative economics and impact and prioritization of actions most suited to meet the energy efficiency requirement of their specific area of plant operation. These sessions were carefully facilitates so that the employees work as a team in coordinated fashion and there is a healthy competition within and across groups in different operational areas. In total 650 kW and 3kcal/kg clinker energy saving target was planned by 7 Groups. Click here to know more


Two Days’ Plant Level Training and Capacity Building Program at JK Lakshmi Cement, Sirohi Plant

29 – 30th May, 2017

KEP is providing value added services for training and capacity building of the industries under the SPARC model (Service Package for Advancing Resource Conservation). The whole idea behind organizing such training programs is that, with the enhanced target under the PAT scheme in each cycle the industry will need much more customized and hand holding support to identify their plant specific opportunities for energy efficiency. The two days training and capacity building workshop was organized at JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Sirohi plant on 29th and 30th May, 2017 which was attended by 23 officials working in mechanical, electrical, instrument, mining and process departments .The workshop was inaugurated by Shri B.B. Wadhawan, Vice president (Engineering), JK Lakshmi Cement Limited, Sirohi. In his inaugural address, Shri Wadhawan advised the plant engineers that they should not be complacent of the fact that the plant has already implemented energy saving measures and achieved the desired energy efficiency level. This is one of the threats under SWOT analysis and should try their best not to get affected by this factor. He felt that the organization of Capacity Building Program followed by 3 days Small Group Activity Program by KEP will assist the industry in achieving the targets under PAT-2 cycle. 2nd Sector Level Workshop – Aluminium

16th-17th December, 2016

The Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP), a joint initiative of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP), supported by British High Commission, with the cooperation of Hindalco Industries Ltd., is organizing Two days’ Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Aluminium Sector” on 16th-17th December, 2016 at Hindalco Industries Ltd., Hirakud.  The workshop on 16th December will be an opportunity for sharing experiences, where existing DCs along with new DCs from PAT Aluminium Sector will share best practice case studies in the area of energy efficiency, roadmap followed to effectively implement Energy Management System (EnMS), in-house operations leading to multiple benefits, and new and innovative technologies for the sector.  Field visits on 17th December to Hindalco Smelter Plant and Captive Power Plant, will provide an opportunity to interact with plant people on best operation and maintenance practices, energy efficient technologies deployed and management system followed. Delegates will also get a chance to visit  nearby historic site – Hirakud Dam (longest major earthen dam in India, measuring 25.8 km including dykes, and stands across the river Mahanadi).   Click here to know more

Two day ‘National Workshop cum Technology Exhibition for Promoting Industrial Energy Efficiency

7th-8th November, 2016

The Knowledge Exchange Platform, which is a joint initiative of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Institute for Industrial Productivity, supported by British High Commission New Delhi, is organizing the two day ‘National Workshop cum Technology Exhibition for Promoting Industrial Energy Efficiency’ from 7 to 8th November, 2016 at at Silver Oak Hall & Lawn, Gate No-3, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003. This event was focused on enhancing the energy efficiency index in electrical and thermal utility systems such as energy efficient motors and drive system- pump, fan, compressor; VFDs,  compressed air systems, cooling towers, thermal power plants, boilers, furnaces, captive and cogeneration power plant, waste heat recovery, lighting system , energy management and monitoring system etc.

2nd Sector Level Workshop – Cement sector

7th-8th  July, 2016
The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  cooperation of My Home Industries Limited, organized Two days’ Workshop and Field visits on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Cement  Sector” under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Cement  Sector” under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative on 7th-8th July, 2016 at My Home Auditorium Srinagar , Mellacheruvu –  508 246 Nalgonda District, Telangana. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Ashwani Pahuja, Director General, National Council for Cement and Building Materials.  In his inaugural address, he congratulated BEE and IIP for establishing the Knowledge Exchange Platform, which will assist the industries to share ideas and best practices. He mentioned that India is the second largest producer of the cement in the world and has adopted sustainability initiative. He mentioned the industry may enhance the usage of renewable energy and waste heat recovery in-order to reduce the energy cost. Sector has been in a position to reduce its GHG emissions from a level of 1.12 ton CO2 emissions per ton of cement in late 1990’s to 0.72 recently.  Shri Pahuja hoped that this platform will support the work being undertaken by the industries in the area of energy efficiency and to explore additional channels for the promotion of cleaner technologies.

2nd Sector Level Workshop – Textile sector

28th  June, 2016
The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  cooperation of Arvind Limited, is organized the Second Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Textile  Sector” under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative on 28th June, 2016 at Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre, G. Road, near  Shapath – V, Ahmedabad – 380015, Gujarat – India. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Susheel Kaul, CEO- Lifestyle Fabrics (Shirting, Khaki & Knitwear), Arvind Limited.  In his inaugural address, he mentioned that coal will continue to be the primary fuel for the next 2-3 decades and energy efficiency is the only way that textile industry can continue to survive and make profit. He mentioned that although the raw material cost cannot be reduced but there is tremendous scope to reduce the cost of energy that accounts of 14-15% of the total cost of production and enhance the profitability and competitiveness of Indian textile industry. He said that KEP provides an ideal platform to support industry in meeting this objective by stimulating best practice exchange, identifying new areas of development and catalyzing change on ground.

Sector Level Workshop – Sponge Iron (Iron & Steel) sector

The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  cooperation of Ms/Godawari Power and Ispat Limited, is organized the First Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Sponge Iron (Iron & Steel) Sector” under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative on 4th March, 2016 (Friday) at Hotel Babylon Inn, Jail Road, Near Fatadih Chowk, Raipur-492009 (Chhattisgarh). The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Vivek Agarwal, Chief Operating Officer, Godawari Power & Ispat Limited. The inaugural event was followed by four technical sessions and a panel discussion chaired by Sector Learning Group members.The workshop had participation from over 160 eminent Iron & Steel industry leaders, Industry Association, distinguished speakers, energy managers and auditors, and senior industry professionals amongst many others.

The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  cooperation of Indo Gulf Fertilizer, is organizing the first Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Fertilizer Sector” under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative on 16th February, 2016 (Tuesday) at Indo Gulf Fertiliser, Jagdishpur (UP). The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Rajendra Sankhee, Chief Operating officer, Indo Gulf Fertilisers. The inaugural event was followed by two technical sessions and a panel discussion chaired by Sector Learning Group members, followed by a plant visit. The workshop had participation from over 60 eminent fertiliser industry leaders, Industry Association, distinguished speakers, energy managers and auditors, and senior industry professionals amongst many others.

Sector Level Workshop – Thermal Power Plant Sector

28th October, 2015

The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  with the cooperation of Reliance Infrastructures Limited, Dahanu Thermal Power Station, organized the First Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in “Thermal Power Plant Sector” on 28th  October, 2015 (Wednesday) at Dahanu Thermal Power Station, RIL, Dahanu, Maharashtra.   The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Rajendra Nandi, Project Director, Sr. Vice President, Dahanu Thermal Power Station, Reliance Infrastructure Limited. The best practice workshop in thermal power sector was an important event under KEP as it was not just relevant for 144 Designated Consumers (DCs) that have been mandated to enhance their energy efficiency under the 1st cycle of PAT scheme but for other industry sectors like cement, aluminium as well, which have sizable number of Captive Power Plants (CPP). The workshop was attended by 230 participants, which included 100 representatives of thermal power sector and 130 representatives of aluminium, cement, pulp & paper, fertilizer, textile, iron & steel sectors, energy auditors and energy managers, technology providers and senior Industry professionals amongst many others.

Sector Level Workshop- Pulp and Paper Sector

21st August, 2015

The Knowledge Exchange Platform under the guidance of BEE, successfully conducted  First Workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Pulp & Paper Sector” on 21st August, 2015 (Friday) at Gulmohar Hall, India Habitat Centre, New DelhiThe workshop was hosted by M/s. JK Paper Ltd. The objective of workshop was to share process focused energy efficiency best practices and technologies adopted by PAT Pulp and Paper sector. The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency.he inaugural event was followed by two technical sessions and a panel discussion.The workshop had participation from over 100 eminent pulp & paper industry leaders, Industry Association, technology providers, distinguished speakers, energy managers and auditors, and senior industry professionals amongst many others.

White Cement Works, at Indana Palace, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) for exchange of best practices in cement industries covered under the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme.  The Workshop was inaugurated by Mr. B. K. Arora, President (Works), J.K. Sector Level Workshop- Aluminium Sector

24th April, 2015

The 1st Aluminium Sector workshop under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative was hosted by Sesa Sterlite Limited, at the Auditorium, Vedanta Meadows, Jharsuguda , for exchange of best practices in Aluminium industries covered under the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme. The Aluminium Workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Abhijit Pati, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium Business.   The inaugural event was followed by two technical sessions and a panel discussion. The workshop had participation from over 200 distinguished speakers, eminent aluminium industry leaders from NALCO, Hindalco, Balco, government agencies, research institutions, certified energy managers and auditors from Odisha and West Bengal, and senior Industry professionals amongst many others.

Launch workshop of Knowledge Exchange Platform

26th February, 2015

A Knowledge Exchange Platform was launched by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in partnership with IIP for transfer of best practices in industries covered under the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme. The British High Commission, India, is supporting IIP in this initiative. PAT is a flagship initiative of BEE, which is a mechanism for promoting energy efficiency in large industries. The PAT scheme covers 478 Industrial units across the eight most energy intensive industry sectors in India, where each unit has been assigned a specific energy consumption reduction target. An ‘Action Plan’ detailing the road map for KEP and the inaugural issue of the Quarterly Newsletter was released by the Chief Guest, Shri P.K. Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, Shri R.N. Choubey, Special Secretary, Ministry of Power and Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency at the launch event. Shri Satish Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power was also present at the Launch event.
